Deborah Fuhr, Managing Partner & Co-founder, ETFGI
Deborah Fuhr is the managing partner and co-founder of ETFGI, an independent research and consultancy firm launched in 2012 in London offering paid for research subscription services: the ETFGI annual research service provides monthly reports on trends in the global ETF and ETP industry, access to the ETFGI database of all ETFs/ETPs listed globally with factsheets which are updated monthly, ETFGI annual review of institutions and mutual funds that use ETFs and ETPs, the Active ETF landscape report service and the Smart Beta ETF Landscape report service which provide monthly reports on trends in that segment of the market.
Previously, she served as global head of ETF research and implementation strategy and as a managing director at BlackRock/Barclays Global Investors from 2008 – 2011. Fuhr also worked as a managing director and head of the investment strategy team at Morgan Stanley in London from 1997 – 2008, and as an associate at Greenwich Associates.
Deborah Fuhr was the recipient of the 2014 William F. Sharpe Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding and lasting contributions to the field of index investing, the Nate Most Greatest Contributor to the ETF industry award at the 11th annual ExchangeTradedFunds.com awards dinner in 2015, the ETF.com Lifetime achievement award in 2015. She has been named as one of the “100 Most Influential Women in Finance” by Financial News in 2014, 2013, 2012, 2009, 2008 and 2007, and as one of the “10 to Watch in 2014” by Rep. magazine and wealthmanagement.com. Ms Fuhr won the award for the Greatest Overall Contribution to the development of the Global ETF industry in the ExchangeTradedFunds.com survey in 2011 and 2008 and received an award for her contribution to the ETF sector at the annual closed end funds and ETF event in New York and was featured in the Investors Chronicle’s list of “150 people that can make you money” in 2010.
Ms Fuhr frequently writes articles for various publications including: Financial News, ETFI Asia, CityWire, FT Advisor, Pensions and Investments, IPE: Investments and Pensions Europe, Focus -World Federation of Exchanges and the Financial Times.
Ms Fuhr is one of the founders and on the board of Women in ETFs, one of the founders and on the board of Women in ETFs – Europe chapter, is on the board of Cancer Research UK’s ‘Women of Influence’ initiative to support female scientists. Ms. Fuhr is on the editorial board of the Journal of Indexes (United States), Journal of Indexes (Europe), and Money Management Executive; the advisory board for the Journal of Index Investing; and the investment panel of experts for Portfolio Adviser, the FTSE ICB Advisory Committee, the International Advisory Committee for the Egyptian Exchange, and the University of Connecticut School of Business International Advisory Board. She holds a BS degree from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Matt Hougan, CEO, Inside ETFs
Matt Hougan is president of Inside ETFs, the world’s leading authority on ETFs. In this position, he oversees all of the company’s editorial, data and analytical, and conferences.
Matt is quoted regularly in the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, Fortune, Forbes, TheStreet.com, MarketWatch.com and the Associated Press, and was recently named of the 25 most influential people in the ETF industry. He is a regular guest on CNBC, and was recently named to Registered Rep’s “Ten to Watch in 2012” list.
Prior to joining Inside ETFs in 2006, Hougan ran a strategic communications firm providing speechwriting services to Fortune 500 CEOs, U.S. and foreign government agencies, and select nonprofits. Earlier, he was the lead biotech analyst for Open Fund, the world's first transparent mutual fund. Hougan is a 1998 graduate of Bowdoin College.

Dave Nadig, CEO, ETF.com
Dave Nadig is CEO of ETF.com. Previously, he was director of exchange-traded funds at FactSet Research Systems, a position he took when ETF.com divested itself of its ETF data business. Prior to that sale, Dave was ETF.com's chief investment officer, and has served in the company since 2008. He returned to ETF.com as CEO in November 2016.
Dave has been involved in researching, reporting and analyzing the investment management industry for more than 20 years, and recently co-authored a definitive book on ETFs, "A Comprehensive Guide To Exchange-Traded Funds" for the CFA Institute.
As a managing director at Barclays Global Investors, Dave helped design and market some of the first ETFs. With partner Don Luskin, he went on to found MetaMarkets.com, a revolutionary transparent mutual fund company that pushed fund disclosure to the top of the SEC agenda. As co-founder at Cerulli Associates in the early '90s, he conducted some of the first research on fee-only financial advisors and the rise of indexing. Dave is widely quoted in the financial press, a regular speaker at finance conferences, and publishes a widely read blog at ETF.com. He has an MBA in finance from Boston University.

Jay Bhutani, Senior Vice-President, Head of ETF Strategy, AGF Investments Inc.
Jay Bhutani is Senior Vice-President, Head of ETF Strategy at AGF Investments Inc.
In this role, Jay is focused on driving the business strategy and the launch of AGF’s ETF platform. He is responsible for identifying market, industry and competitor trends, while leveraging AGF’s diverse investment platform to meet the needs of our retail and institutional businesses.
Jay brings more than 20 years of financial services experience in asset management, product and business development to this role. He has been with AGF for nearly 10 years in senior roles, including Head of Product, Head of Marketing and Vice-President of Business Solutions.
Prior to joining AGF, Jay’s experience included Director, Corporate Strategy for Altamira Funds and in retail banking at TD, CIBC and Canada Trust.
Jay holds degrees in Business Administration and Economics from York University.

Pat Bolland, Media Consultant
Longtime business commentator Pat Bolland has been a business thought leader north and south of the border. Pat worked his way up in the investment industry from floor clerk on the Toronto Stock Exchange to VP with a top tier firm before moving into broadcasting. Pat’s been business editor at four major networks, currently Sun New Network on ‘AM Agenda’. He has parlayed his TV hosting skills into media training, corporate PR as well as hosting, moderating and webcasting for events and conferences. Not to mention a lot of lacrosse coaching. Despite all his business and sport acumen he’s best known as “the guy with the ‘stache”. Follow him at @patbolland.

Scott Boniferro, Vice President, Global Investment Strategies, Invesco Canada
As Vice President, Global Investment Strategies, Mr. Boniferro interacts with investment teams and economists across Invesco globally, distilling their views and strategies for the Canadian market. Mr. Boniferro brings a clear, precise and actionable view of the investment landscape to advisors across the country. Working closely with leading index providers, he is a strong proponent of smart beta indexing, with a deep understanding of exchange-traded fund (ETF) portfolio implementation, liquidity analysis and trade execution.
Prior to joining the Global Investment Strategies team, Mr. Boniferro focused on PowerShares smart beta strategies as a product manager, a position he held since joining Invesco in 2011. Previously, he was with TD Wealth Management where he worked closely with investment advisors and financial planners in sales support and practice management.
Mr. Boniferro earned a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. He also holds the Certified Financial Planner® and Certified International Wealth Manager designations and is a Fellow of the CSI®.

Chris Burniske, Blockchain Products Lead, ARK Investment Management LLP
Chris serves as Blockchain Products Lead at ARK Invest, working on both research and business development. In 2015, ARK Invest became the first public fund manager to invest in bitcoin, offering the first two ETFs (ARKW and ARKK) with bitcoin exposure. Chris analyzes both public and private blockchain implementations, and frequently appears in media outlets—including Forbes, CNBC, Bloomberg, Reuters, Quartz and CoinDesk—to discuss blockchain technology. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BS from Stanford.

Roger Chandhok, Associate Director, Equity Derivatives, National Bank Financial Group
Roger Chandhok is in Global Equity Derivatives Sales at National Bank Financial. He covers Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) issuers in various capacities including pre-launch structuring, ongoing distribution, and trade execution. In addition, Roger covers a growing client base of institutional investors using ETFs.
Roger leads the Equity Index Analytics team which publishes regularly and enhances NBF coverage of Canadian ETF and index fund managers.
Roger joined NBF in 2010 working on various Equity Derivative products until focusing primarily on helping build National Bank’s ETF offering. He holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Warren Collier, Managing Director, Head of the Canadian iShares business, BlackRock
Mr. Collier's service with the firm dates back to 1999, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was the Chief Operating Officer for BGI in Canada and Latin America, where he was responsible for designing, developing and implementing an operational management strategy for BGI's businesses in Canada and Latin America. He was also a member of BGI's Global Legal Leadership team with responsibility for the legal teams outside the US and UK. Most recently, Mr. Collier was the COO for BlackRock's US iShares business and, before that, for the firm's Latin America and Iberia business. Before his time with BlackRock, Mr. Collier was in private legal practice focusing on the investment management industry at a leading Canadian business law firm. He also served as the first lawyer with a leading Canadian mutual fund group.
Mr. Collier earned a BA degree in political science from York University in 1991 and his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1994.

Francis D’Andrade, VP, Private Client, Forstrong Global Asset Management
I am currently responsible for crafting the client experience and the marketing/communications strategy for Forstrong Global Asset Management. This has been informed by 30 years participation in the financial services industry in diverse areas such as commodity futures, mutual funds, brokerage, insurance and now ETF asset management. I have been privileged to participate in numerous financial industry committees and publications and that have played an important role in the development and perceptions of the financial services category. Outside of the office I enjoy outdoor pursuits and putting the finishing touches on my second book.

Amanda Davidson, Managing Director, Financial Products, BMO Capital Markets
Ms. Davidson is Managing Director, ETF Sales and Trading at BMO Capital Markets. After graduating from York University in 1991 with an Honors Degree in Economics, she began her career with Burns Fry Ltd (BMO Capital Markets), managing various derivative strategies. Amanda has 19 years of ETF trading experience as a lead market maker on a diverse list of ETFs across multiple asset classes. She develops customized ETF trading strategies for retail and institutional clients, and assists new and existing providers launch ETFs products in Canada. Ms. Davidson received her CFA designation in 1997.

Christopher Doll, Vice-President, Product & Business Strategy, PowerShares Canada
Mr. Doll is Vice President, Product & Business Strategy, PowerShares Canada. A 14-year veteran in the asset management industry, he has held progressively senior roles in product management since joining Invesco Canada in 2010.
He manages the firm’s Canadian lineup of PowerShares® Funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). His areas of expertise include smart beta indexing as well as ETF portfolio implementation, liquidity analysis and trade execution. He oversaw the launch of various firstto-market smart beta ETF strategies.
Prior to joining Invesco, Mr. Doll worked at a Toronto-based alternative investment manager. He is a graduate of University of Ottawa, with a B.Comm. (Hons.).

Bobby Eng, Vice President, State Street Global Advisors, Ltd. & Head, SPDR ETF Business Development for Canada
Bobby is a Vice President at State Street Global Advisors, Ltd and Head of SPDR ETF Business Development for Canada. Bobby focuses on the distribution of SPDR ETFs to institutional investors throughout Canada including pension plans, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, investment consultants, asset managers and banks.
Prior to this role, Bobby spent over 3 years at First Trust Portfolios Canada as Senior Vice President and Head of Sales responsible for overall sales and distribution. Bobby also spent 10 years at Blackrock Asset Management most recently as Director & Vice President, Head of National Accounts at Blackrock Asset Management responsible for asset managers and brokerage senior executive relationships. Bobby was instrumental in the success of the iShares, Exchange Traded Funds business in Canada being responsible for sales and business development across Canada. Bobby also held sales and relationship management roles at Fidelity Investments and National Bank of Canada.
Bobby holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Concordia University and holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation from the Investment Management Consultant Association (IMCA).

Paulette Filion, Partner, StrategyMarketing.ca
Paulette is a marketing expert within the financial services industry. She believes that consumers/women want to do business with companies that understand them and to purchase products that already mirror their existing beliefs.
Her first seminar, produced on behalf of Merrill Lynch in New York focused exclusively on women. Back when, women were little more than ‘wives’ and ‘girlfriends,’ it attracted more than 1,000 women and showed the need and desire for financial knowledge and understanding tailored to women.
In addition she conducted research with women investors in Canada related to the communications provided by financial services companies. She found the focus on quantitative results was failing to inspire or reassure female clients.
She co-authored a book, Marketing Financial Planning to Women, aimed at advisors interested in learning how to develop better relationships with female clients.

Garth Foster, Partner, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP
Garth Foster is extensively involved in the investment funds, registration and securities law areas. He actively advises a number of public and private investment funds including exchange traded funds. Garth has created new funds, including hedge funds, drafted trust, management, advisory, sub-advisory and distribution agreements, filed numerous applications for exemptive relief and prepared offering documents for both public and private funds. He has also been involved in a number of mutual fund acquisitions and reorganizations. In addition, Garth has registered, and provides ongoing compliance and registration advice to various advisers, dealers and investment fund managers. He also comments on policy initiatives in the investment funds, registration and securities law areas.

Deborah Frame, President & CIO, Frame Global Asset Management
Deborah Frame is the President and Chief Investment Officer of Frame Global Asset Management.
The firm was launched in 2015, providing non-discretionary investment advisory services to registered Portfolio Managers in Canada and registered Investment Advisors in the United States, using tactical asset allocation to construct globally diversified portfolios using broad market Exchange Traded Funds. The firm is wholly owned by employees.
Deborah has held executive positions over the past 30 years at several major Canadian life insurance and investment firms and has sat as a board member of both public and private companies. She was Chief Investment Officer at Empire Life prior to moving to Cougar Global Investments, a Global Tactical ETF Portfolio Strategist in 2009, where she was Vice President Investments and Chief Compliance Officer.
She holds an MBA from York University with a concentration in Finance and an undergraduate degree in Economics and Business from the University of Guelph. She is a registered Portfolio Manager - Advising Representative with the Ontario Securities Commission and a CFA Charterholder.
Deborah is the Co-Head of the Canadian Chapter of Women in ETFs. Founded in January 2014, Women in ETFs encourages and supports women in the ETF industry in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific. The organization’s objectives are to create opportunities for professional advancement by expanding connections among women in the ETF industry, offering guidance for the current and next generation of women in ETFs and provide forums for education and idea sharing across the industry and beyond.

Paritosh Gambhir, Audit Partner, Financial Services, KPMG
Paritosh is an Audit Partner in KPMG’s Financial Services Practice, specializing in asset management and banking. He has over 15 years of professional experience servicing financial institutions. Paritosh joined KPMG in Canada in 2004, he was previously with KPMG in Zambia where he worked for over five years. He has experience in servicing large financial institutions in Canada, helping clients meet the challenges of an ever-changing environment. These financial institutions include asset management firms, investment funds including alternative investments, exchange traded funds and private equity. He has also been involved with the audit of banks in Canada and Zambia. His experience includes leading segments such as personal and commercial banking, credit risk, securitizations and wealth management.

Camilo Gil, Executive Director, Institutional ETF Services, Equity Markets, CIBC World Markets
Mr. Gil joined CIBC Capital Markets in 2010 and is responsible for the exchangetraded fund (ETF) trading business, bringing liquidity and trading expertise to one of Canada’s fastest growing asset classes. Prior to assuming his current role Mr. Gil developed and maintained relationships with institutional accounts and hedge funds in relation to direct market access (DMA), algorithmic trading and electronic connectivity. He was also instrumental in growing CIBC Capital Markets’ noted electronic trading franchise while playing a critical role in developing capabilities and client relationships in Latin America.
Mr. Gil holds a H.BComm from McMaster University.

Marty Gillespie, Managing Director – Head of ETF & Portfolio Trading, RBC Dominion Securities
Marty Gillespie is a Managing Director and Head of the RBC Capital Markets ETF & Program trading group. With over 18 years’ experience in ETF markets, he leads a team of professionals, which carry the responsibility of being designated broker and market maker on several products globally. He also spearheads an ETF publication which aims to educate investors on market structure and dynamics of the ETF landscape.

Alan Green, Director, iShares Canada Capital Markets, BlackRock
Alan currently leads iShares Canada Capital Markets, responsible for managing the relationships with all broker dealer firms and providing client education around the pre and post trading of iShares ETFs. Alan is also responsible for liaising with regulators and exchanges providing insight and information on the capital market ecosystem. Before joining BlackRock, Alan was responsible for market structure within the firm’s European business.
Previous to his time at BlackRock, Alan spent 8 years at Citigroup as a Senior Delta One trader, responsible for the pricing, execution and risk management of a Global macro equity index book for the full range of delta one products.
Alan earned a BSc in Geography from University College London in 2002. He is also a Charted Management Accountant, 2005.

Steven Hawkins, President and Co-CEO, Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc.
Steven Hawkins, Co-CEO and Chief Investment Officer, Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. has been with Horizons ETFs since 2009, and one of its predecessor companies since 2007. Mr. Hawkins oversees the day–to-day business and affairs of Horizons ETFs. Prior to this, Mr. Hawkins was a Managing Partner and Director of JovFunds Management Inc., a subsidiary of Jovian Capital Corporation, from 2006 to 2011. From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Hawkins served in a dual capacity as Chief Investment Officer and Senior Vice-President, Compliance and Risk Management, for First Asset Investment Management Inc., as well as Vice-President, Compliance, for its parent company, AMG Canada Inc. Mr. Hawkins has more than 20 years of experience in the investment industry on both the buy and sell side.

Steve Higgins, Director, Storage & Refinery Solutions, Royal Canadian Mint
Steve Higgins oversees the Royal Canadian Mint’s precious metals storage and refining business lines. The Mint provides highly secure and transparent storage for large financial institutions, investment funds, corporations and HNW clients. He is responsible for the design, development and management of the Canadian Gold Reserves (TSX: MNT/MNT.U) and Canadian Silver Reserves (TSX: MNS/MNS.U) exchange-traded receipt programs (ETR). ETRs have monthly redemption rights for newly cast Royal Canadian Mint gold and silver bars or coins. Before joining the Mint in 2009 Steve was the Manager, Corporate Performance at Sustainable Development Technology Canada which makes early stage investments into the Cleantech sector. Steve completed his MBA at HEC School of Management in Paris and his Bachelor of Science and Business at the University of Waterloo.

Neville Joanes, Portfolio Manager, WealthBar
Neville oversees investment strategy, asset allocation, ETF selection and investment operations at WealthBar, a Vancouver based digital portfolio manager. His position at WealthBar has enabled him to follow his passions around digitizing wealth management, spurring innovation in the financial industry and bringing transparency to clients across Canada.
In a previous role at a Canadian investment firm, Neville was responsible for over $500 million of assets. With over 10 years of experience in financial services, he has held roles at Mackenzie, TD Bank and Horizon ETFs.
Neville has extensive experience in analysis, product development, trading and asset management. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Rod Jones, Head of North America, STOXX, Limited
Rod Jones is head of North America at STOXX, Limited. In this role, he is responsible for the firm’s operations and business development efforts in the North America region.
Rod previously worked at MSCI Barra heading the hedge fund and broker dealer client coverage teams in the United States.
Prior to Barra, Rod spent 8 years at Frank Russell Company (Russell Investment Group) in various analyst roles including Russell’s US consulting practice.
Rod has extensive business management expertise related to index products, ETFs, funds, notes and other product structures. He also has extensive expertise developing index ideas and helping clients implement them. Finally, Rod is proficient in risk management and quantitative methods and their application to the investment process. Rod holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Whitman College.

Alfred Lee, Portfolio Manager & Investment Strategist, Vice President, BMO ETFs, BMO Global Asset Management
Alfred is a portfolio manager at BMO Asset Management Inc. where he manages fixed income and preferred share related mandates for both institutional and retail clients. As part of the global fixed income management team, he is involved in the management and trading of a wide variety of portfolios. In addition to portfolio management, he is also involved with product design including ZPR, one of the largest ETFs in Canada. Previously, he worked for a large Canadian based brokerage developing ETF related strategies and macro-based research. Alfred is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, majoring in economics and holds the CFA, Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and Derivatives Market Specialist (DMS) designations.

Lori Livingstone, Portfolio Manager, BMO Nesbitt Burns
Lori Livingstone is a Portfolio Manager at BMO Nesbitt Burns. She has worked for over 30 years in the investment industry starting her career on the equity trading desk of Burns Fry in 1985. She received her CFA designation at the age of 26 - one of the youngest and one of very few women with this designation at that time.
Lori went on to become an Analyst and Portfolio Manager with Prudential Assurance with responsibility for managing both Canadian and US portfolio’s along with contributing to the asset mix strategy. She later gained valuable experience in the US, working on Wall Street as an Institutional sales person with clients across the country. She returned to Canada in 1998 to work at a KBSH Capital Management where she was the Portfolio Manager for both Canadian and US mandates.
In 2003, Lori narrowed her career focus to wealth management for individuals and families She was an early adopter of using ETF’s as part of her investment strategy. While she doesn't solely focus on women clients, she has a passionfor helping women achieve financial success.
Lori graduated in 1984 with a BA Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
She is a long-time member of the CFA Society of Toronto and a member of Women In ETFs.

Dennis E. MacPherson, Senior Vice President, SGGG Fund Services Inc.
Mr. Dennis MacPherson has diverse experience in investment fund operations. He began his career with TD Bank Financial Group supporting Greenline Investor Services (now TD Waterhouse Canada). Later, the TD third-party fund business was purchased by AGF Management Ltd., and Mr. MacPherson accepted the role of Director, Dealer Relations for Unisen Inc. (now owned by Citigroup).
Then, Mr. MacPherson returned to TD Bank to run the Client Transfer Services area, for all products and business lines of the Wealth Management Division. He then accepted a senior management role in Investment Fund Operations, where he was responsible for transaction processing for all TD brokerage and retail distribution channels, and all TD Mutual Funds products.
Mr. MacPherson was then recruited by Felcom Data Services Inc. as the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, responsible for all day-to-day operations, budgeting, and staffing. There, he developed and grew the business to the point where it was targeted and acquired by CIBC Mellon. After ensuring an orderly transition of all Clients, staff and business processes, Mr. MacPherson made the decision to assume his current role at SGGG Fund Services.
Mr. MacPherson has been an industry leader in process improvement change as a Member or Chair of several Committees and Working Groups, and is currently an active Member of the FundSERV Standards Steering Committee (SSC). He has also participated in several high-profile speaking engagements, including: the annual IFIC (Investment Funds Institute of Canada) Conference, CCMA (Canadian Capital Markets Association) Information Sessions on Straight-Through Processing (STP), the IFIC Dealer Operations Forum, an "expert panel" discussion on Pooled Fund hosted by PMAC (Portfolio Managers Association of Canada), an operations panel at the annual WAISC summit, and most recently hosted a regulatory roundtable for HFM.

Joseph Micallef, Tax – National Tax Leader Financial Services & Asset Management Industry, KPMG LLP
Joseph specializes in wealth and asset management, private equity, banking, capital markets and broker dealer taxation matters. In addition to leading the wealth and asset management tax practice. Joseph also advises clients on tax accounting and tax risk governance matters. During Joseph’s career he also has practiced outside of financial services in the resources, power and utilities, life sciences, and technology industries.
Joseph has more than 19 years of experience working with regulated and non-regulated public and private clients of all sizes in the financial services, resources, utilities, life sciences and technology industries.

Dave Nugent, Chief Investment Officer, Wealthsimple
Dave Nugent is the Chief Investment Officer at Wealthsimple, Canada's leading online investing service. Dave co-founded the company in 2014 and leads its B2B solution, Wealthsimple for Advisors, which launched in early 2016. Founded in Canada by a team of financial experts and technology entrepreneurs, Wealthsimple is backed by Power Financial Corporation, a global management and holding company.
Prior to joining Wealthsimple, Dave was an investment advisor with RBC Dominion Securities. Dave is a graduate of Huron University college at Western University and is a Portfolio Manager.

Patrick H.E. O'Connor, Head of Global ETFs, Franklin Templeton Investments
Patrick O'Connor is head of Global Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) for Franklin Templeton Investments. Mr. O'Connor has primary responsibility for the development and execution of the firm's ETF capabilities. He brings industry leading expertise on the design, launch, investment management and operations of ETFs.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in 2015, Mr. O'Connor spent 16 years at BlackRock (formerly Barclays Global Investors) and held several executive positions, most notably as managing director and head of iShares Equity Portfolio Management. At BlackRock, he was responsible for more than 250 index and strategic beta funds. He has led numerous product launches, including both mutual funds and ETFs, and was an original member of the iShares Launch Team in 1999.
Mr. O'Connor earned an M.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance from Fordham University and a B.A. in History from the University of California at Davis.

Judy Paradi, Partner, StrategyMarketing.ca
As owner of a successful marketing company for over 20 years, Judy had the opportunity to work with a huge variety of mostly blue chip clients such as the Royal Bank, BMO, Scotia Bank, Heart and Stroke, Kraft, Novartis etc.
Not long into her career she became aware of the huge disparity between how women thought and how they were being marketed to and she started focusing her efforts on marketing to women in specific. To that end she published a white paper, What you don’t know about marketing to women and why it could hurt you.
Judy’s enthusiasm regarding women’s issues is further evidenced by her involvement as a board member and mentor with Step Ahead, an organization devoted to mentoring female entrepreneurs.
In addition, she lectures at the University of Toronto, delivering a course on entrepreneurship, with a special focus on targeted marketing and is involved with the university’s Hatchery program, serving as an advisor on women’s issues.

Kevin Prins, Vice President, BMO ETFs
With more than 20 years of industry experience in banking, securities, mutual funds, ETFs and financial education, Kevin provides a rare combination of both industry knowledge and educational expertise on Exchange Traded Funds. During his career he has authored several investment industry courses for the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), including the recent development of an ETF focused course. Kevin frequently interacts with portfolio managers and investors about the benefits of ETFs and how they can be used to add value to any investment portfolio. He is a regular contributor to investment industry publications, has also been a guest speaker and panelist at industry events, and has appeared several times on BNN. Kevin has an MBA from Dalhousie University and holds a number of industry designations including FCSI, CIM and CFP.

Jaime Purvis, Executive Vice President, National Accounts, Horizons ETFs Management (Canada)
As Executive Vice President at Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc., Jaime manages the national accounts relationships for Horizons ETFs with Canadian investment dealers, as well as managing relationships with the dealer managed asset and discretionary management programs. Jaime is also responsible for the self-directed investing channel and delivering key concepts and product knowledge to senior management, operations, and investors.

Jason Richey, Senior Research Analyst, Cougar Global Investments
Jason is a member of Cougar Global’s portfolio management team. He analyzes the firm’s independent research, assists with maintaining the firm’s proprietary financial models, and monitors the ETF landscape for new ideas. He also contributes in formulating Cougar’s macroeconomic outlook and key fundamental asset class views.
Jason has spent the past 12 years researching various asset classes, with a recent focus on exchange traded products. Prior to joining Cougar Global in 2015, he was a Senior Analyst on Raymond James’ Manager Research Team, and has been a featured speaker at ETF industry events. Jason earned his BA with a double major in Math and Economics, and his MBA in Finance from the University of South Florida. Jason is a CFA charterholder.
In his free time, Jason has three children (ages 6, 4, and 1) to keep his evenings just as busy as his days. He relocated from Florida to Toronto in 2015, though he still stays up to date on SEC football.

Chris Romano, Director of Research, ETF Global
Chris Romano is the Director of Research at ETF Global, where he leads the development of the proprietary research models and analytics. Chris is the Chairman of the ETFG Research Advisory Board and manages the firm’s team of research analysts. Chris plays an integral role in developing custom solutions for all of ETFG’s client segments.
Chris has extensive experience within investment research having previously served as the Director of Research and Trading Strategies for a successful institutional money management firm. As part of this experience, Chris led the design of quantitative models and the development of trading processes and systems. Additionally, Chris served as a member of the Investment Advisory Committee providing insight and analytical information used for a large tactical asset management firm. Chris began his career in the systems administration and brokerage support areas.
Chris obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science with a minor in Business from the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Chris has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute as well as the CFA Society of Pittsburgh.

Jos Schmitt, President & CEO, Aequitas NEO Exchange
Jos Schmitt is one of the founders and President & CEO of the Aequitas NEO Exchange, a stock exchange he formed with the support of a number of blue chip financial institutions.
Prior to NEO and in the role of President & CEO, Jos formed together with a number of blue chip financial institutions the Alpha Group of companies, including the Alpha Stock Exchange. This followed his role as EVP Head of the Americas and Global Head of Capital Markets for a global professional services company focused on the financial services industry. During his tenure at this professional services company, where he was part of the original partnership group, he acted as strategic advisor and director of operational and/or technology programs for some of the largest stock and derivatives exchanges and clearing houses, alternative markets, data vendors and broker-dealers around the globe. Some of his other previous roles include: President and CEO of a European Derivatives Exchange and Clearing House, President and CEO of a pan-European Indices Publisher, Chairman of a Derivatives SRO, and Head of Strategy and Business Operations at a European Stock Exchange.

Silvio Stroescu, President, BMO Investorline
Silvio Stroescu is the President of BMO InvestorLine. He is accountable for driving the strategy, client experience and performance of BMO’s self-directed and digital advice brokerage businesses in Canada. He ensures there is alignment between InvestorLine and BMO’s broader Wealth Management and enterprise strategy. He joined BMO Financial Group in October 2016.

Silvio was formerly Vice President of Deposits of Tangerine Bank (ING DIRECT), and prior to that, he served as President & CEO of Tangerine Investments. Over his tenure with ING DIRECT he was one of the pioneers of digital banking in Canada, leading teams that launched innovative products and services in anticipation of clients’ evolving digital preferences. Silvio also brings his experience with developing new business lines, introducing new products to the Canadian market and leading business lines in transition. He credits his progress to a relentless focus on personal development, great mentors and being part of organizations with environments conducive of growth opportunities.

He is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) and a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM). Silvio studied Mathematics and Psychology at the University of Toronto and completed several executive leadership programs at Schulich, Harvard, Ivey, Rotman and ING Business Schools.

Benjamin Tal, Deputy Chief Economist, CIBC World Markets Inc.
Mr. Tal is responsible for analyzing economic developments and their implications for North American fixed income, equity, foreign exchange and commodities markets. He also acts in an advisory capacity to bank officers on issues related to wealth management, household/corporate credit and risk.
Well-known for his ground-breaking published research on topics such as labour market dynamics, real estate, credit markets, international trade and business economic conditions, Mr. Tal not only contributes to the conversation but also frequently sets the agenda.
He has close to 20 years of experience in the private sector advising clients, industry leaders, corporate boards, trade associations and governments on economic and financial issues.
National and global media regularly seek him out for his insight and analysis on economic issues that impact financial markets, consumers, corporations and public policy. He is also a frequent lecturer in the economic programs of various Canadian universities.

Joacim Wiklander, Chief Business Officer, Aequitas NEO Exchange
Joacim Wiklander is Chief Business Officer, responsible for long term business strategy, sales and business development activities across all product and service offerings at Aequitas. Joacim has extensive electronic trading experience in both the equities and derivatives markets, and was the CEO of Neonet Securities, a European agency broker who pioneered Smart Order Routing. Prior to Neonet, Joacim held several different executive positions with the Orc Group, a global provider of electronic trading technology, including Chief Strategy Officer and VP Product Management.
